This is a map of “We Won’t Go Back” protests from around the country in response to the right-wing Supreme Court decision – many happened on Friday, June 24, but many others are being planned for the following days and weeks.

For more, go to the site.

According to today’s San Diego Union-Tribune:

Thousands gathered at two separate rallies Friday night in downtown San Diego to protest the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade and strip away constitutional protections for abortions.

About 1,000 people crowded around the steps of the Hall of Justice before setting off on a through the streets of downtown.

Around the same time that procession began, another group of more than 1,000 was gathering near Waterfront Park outside the San Diego County Administration Center.
Both groups decried the court’s decision that upended the landmark 1973 opinion Roe v. Wade, which upheld a woman’s right to abortion without government restrictions.

Nope, its not enough. Anyone who has reverted back to “what’s for lunch tomorrow?” clearly doesn’t get the full gist of this. While I’m not sure what’s next, burning effigies of the Supreme Court?, I am sure that this is a GROSS infringement on my right to gender equality, presumably protected until now. It isn’t about abortion anymore, its about CHOICE. Abortion is just one roll back to my rights for equal health care under whatever affects my body, abortion or kidney transplant. Women do NOT have equal rights in this country. Democracy or whatever else you want to call it, is a total sham if 51% of the population doesn’t have autonomy over their bodies, while 49% has NEVER had a law that restricts THEIR bodies…

Really good to hear from you, retired botanist, but it’s sad that this is upon us. However, looking at this map and all the protests held or scheduled has to give us a little hope. This is NOT over yet.
