I had the great fortune of seeing Dr. West speak at my university many years ago when his book titled Race Matters came out. Not only did he speak to the students at large, as well as anyone else from the community that wanted to listen, he extended his stay by two days so that he could speak with smaller groups of students who had asked for a more intimate conversation. It was amazing to watch him bring together disparate groups of cultures and races to increase the peace, so to speak. Those lectures were truly one of the highlights of my time in college experience and anybody who has the time should seek out tickets to see him in action. If ever there was a time for a peacemaker, it is now!
