Her face was on flyers wrapped around signs and palm trees in Ocean Beach yesterday, January 18.

Serena Stevens, a 19-year-old woman reportedly missing after traveling to San Diego from New York late last week has been located in Ocean Beach.

The San Diego Police Department shared a tweet around noon on Tuesday saying they had found Stevens. Lt. Adam Sharki told FOX 5 in an email.

According to police, Stevens arrived in San Diego in the early morning hours of Jan. 12. She reportedly told her sister she was traveling to the West Coast and would “sleep on the beach.”

Police said her sister reported her missing after the family was not able to get in contact with her since Jan. 13. San Diego Fox5

What?

She doesn’t keep in contact with her family to let them know she is ok?

Irresponsible! Did we have to use resources and money to look for someone? If so, she should pay back the city!

Is this a serious post? You don’t know the reasons why didn’t keep in contact with her family. What if she’s escaping a horrible family situation? Did that cross your mind? And perhaps it’s none of that and she IS being irresponsible. Again you have no idea so it’s a bit premature to accuse her of that. And OB is kind of known for being a destination for people in that situation so it’s very possible.

Yes serious. Having a daughter (or son) who travels to go sleep on some beach would concern me. What parent wouldn’t say keep in touch, let me know when you get there and where you are unless you don’t give a crap.

When I drop someone off at their house I make sure they get in safely inside their home. When someone that I care about travels or heads to their home I ask them to call or text when they get there. If I don’t hear from them I follow up to make sure they are ok and let them know I care about them. Wondering and caring that someone is safe is not a good thing? Forgive me for my crazy thoughts :-)

WHOOSH!!! I’ll try this again. You are making assumptions about her lack of responsibility without knowing the whole her whole story since there is no available info on that. She may be running away from a horrible family situation. Maybe physically and/or mentally abusive or any other numbers of bad situations. That’s a common reason why teens runaway from home. There could be some very understandable and valid reasons why she left and made no effort to contact her family back home. Or maybe not but we don’t know because again there is NOT info as of yet as to why she left NY to come here. And she should reimburse the city for the cost? GTFOOH lol.

What a gentleman!

Would this be more appealing to you…Maybe the police should say to parents…she’s an adult. If you want to find go look for her?

I don’t mean to be so harsh Debbie, but I’m just gob smacked by your thoughts on this.

And, add to that, the woman is 19 years old, a legal adult. She could whatever she wants. Maybe she has a over-bearing mother who pulled the trigger on this search before it was needed. Maybe mom should pay the bills.

Gee, think of it. A 19 year old not talking to her parents – the horror!

SHE should pay it back? She is an adult and is allowed to “go missing” as she chooses. Her family totally overreacted, and created drama sure to get other people’s interest and attention. Her home life was most likely hell with such dramatic parents. I’m just glad she ended up in ob, where the living is good and folks look out for each other. She’s young and cute, she had new friends immediately upon arrival.
