10 Republicans Vote to Impeach

Today, Wednesday, January 13, 2021, at 4:30 pm ET or there about, the US House of Representatives voted to impeach Donald Trump for the second time.

By a bi-partisan vote of 232 to 197, the House impeached Trump. 221 Democrats and 10 House Republicans voted to uphold the resolution.

Never before in American history, has a president ever been impeached twice.

Trump was impeached for insurrection – on charges that grew out of his assault on the Capitol and insurrection against our government.

The one article of impeachment will then be sent to the Senate. However, current Senate leader Mitch McConnell confirmed earlier today that the Senate would not take it up until after Biden’s inauguration.

Impeachment is an indictment, not a conviction of the charges. The Senate holds a trial and then needs a two-thirds vote to convict.

Trump was first impeached in December 2019, but was not convicted in the Senate.

A resolution to impeach a President on charges of inciting an insurrection to the point of storming a congressional hearing and murdering among others a police officer; yet McConnell refuses to call an emergency vote for the Senate to remove a President from office who is clearly unstable.

Let’s not forget this moment when McConnell later boasts about his party of law & ordet and upholding the Constitution. Another example of McConnell and other Trump enablers to not take responsibility to keep ALL Americans safe for only eight more days while a vindictive, unstable President has the nuclear codes.

Among the many things to cheer about because of the election results, one of the best, is that McConnell will be in the minority next week. I would love to see the Senate take up multiple investigations of everything that asshole has done, including going to the bathroom. It should be the goal of the Democrats to make every day for McConnell as miserable as humanly possible. Wrap his ass up in so many investigations that he finally runs away screaming into the night. The list of detestable characters associated with the LOSER is very long, let’s start with the guy at the top after the LOSER.

There’s one thing about the senate I am not clear on. Since there is a 50-50 tie among sitting senators (after Warnock and Ossoff are seated, Yay!), who brings things to the senate floor for action. I assume there is no majority leader, since there is no majority, but I’m not clear on how things will work from a parliamentary stand point. Can anybody enlighten me?

I found this, Paul. “The party that takes the White House determines which party becomes the majority in the Senate because the Vice President acts as the tie-breaking vote.”

Chuck Schumer will be the new majority leader, Moscow Mitch fades back to be minority leader because (drum roll please) there is a Democratic tie-breaking VP in town now . . . so Democrats actually hold the majority.
As the Universe intended all along.
