The Ocean Beach bike path between Pacific Highway and Morena Boulevard is now closed temporarily. It is expected to re-open on Friday, February 28th.

The closure began Feb. 3. Bicyclists, joggers and pedestrians are urged to look out for detour routes and to be especially careful while traveling in the area where construction is going on.

Some of the projects planned for the Ocean Beach bike path are a full repaving of the path itself and the installation of a handrail. Closures may need to be postponed at any time without notice.

The closure of the bike path is part of SANDAG’s Mid-Coast Trolley project, which will extend the UC San Diego Blue Line trolley service. Part of the project includes enhancing access to public transportation by improving pedestrian paths and bike ways as part of the Mid-Coast Mobility Hub Implementation Strategy.

The closure of the bike path in Ocean Beach was scheduled to begin last month but was postponed to February. More information about the closure can be found on SANDAG’s construction update site: shiftsandiego.com.
