It’s a sad day for those who loved the Electric Chair and knew Paul and Lynn Bolton the original owners. For the Electric Chair is no more. It’s closed up tight and the banner that proclaimed “New Ownership – Grand Re-Opening Just Days Away” is gone. And there’s a “For Lease” sign on the window. The place is at 4844 Newport Avenue.

The building owners, Lyle and Linda Cocking,  are hoping to find the ideal tenant – another salon – to move in, as the place could still be a beauty salon. The space has 1,500 square feet.

A little over a week ago, we reported that the new owners were having a “Grand Re-Opening”. And in mid-November we posted an article that stated the Electric Chair “may close.” In response we received an avalanche of denials and were not too gingerly taken to task for posting such “Onion” material.

One person, in a comment, declared “All of the information contained in this article is inaccurate.” And added what read like a commercial: ” The salon will remain open 7 days a week. Together achieving an environment that is Technical, Ethical, and Cutting Edge, with ambitious stylists wanting to serve.”

Even our friend and previous owner, Paul Bolton, commented it wasn’t closing: “The Salon is NOT closing. Susy (who has worked there since 1991) and her client Lyz are taking over the Salon from the previous owner.”

We wish the Cockings the best of luck and hope they find their ideal tenant and we wish good fortune to all the stylists that are out of a place to cut and style hair.
