In a five minute address to the nation at 2 PST, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi announced that the House of Representatives will begin a formal impeachment inquiry into President Trump because of his very recent violations of law and the Constitution in his interactions with the head of Ukraine.

“The President must be held accountable. No one is above the law,” she said.

Our reaction: “It’s about time!”

There will likely be a roll-call vote tomorrow, September 25, in the House. 218 votes are needed to pass the resolution to begin the inquiry.

The House Judiciary Committee will take the lead and the other committees that have been doing their own various investigations of Trump will funnel their best information to Judiciary, headed by Jerry Nadler of New York.

Just a reminder to keep any celebrations on hold. While any movement in this direction is a positive and welcome advancement, it should be noted that an Impeachment Inquiry is not the same as Impeachment which a lot of happy people think it is.
Also, impeachment doesn’t mean old lying bone spurs will be removed from office. There are many different outcomes possible. McConnell has already stated the senate won’t go along with it. So before throwing our collective hats in the air, be prepared for an assortment of tricks, spin, lies, lawsuits, and flat out refusals by the White House to hand over documents, etc. Hell, we might even see an attempt at a coup. And, after the smoke clears if the stable genius does go down, we will be stuck with Pence. A horrifying thought at best.
Damn, don’t mean to sound so negative after some good progress. Just finding it hard to believe at this point unless something actually happens.
