From the online newsletter of the Pt Loma Association:

Over the past eight months, since meeting with executives from Pendulum Properties regarding their plans to “repurpose” the structure, we have requested updates multiple times and received no response.

However, the Chapel is no longer closed to events. A new booking website makes little mention of the historical significance of North Chapel. In fact, they have rebranded it simply…

Recent renovations, or previous restorations?

So much for tradition, heritage and solemn reverence.

The main message seems to be, “Let’s party!”

There is nothing to indicate that booking agent, 828 Venues, is expanding much beyond the types of events previously hosted at North Chapel. So far.

But they are still formulating their design…

The Chapel already has a floor plan.

What does “coming soon” mean?

Here is the promise the owners of North Chapel made to PLA, our City Council representative and other community members on Monday, January 7, 2019:

“Pendulum and 828 have hired architects with experience in historic structures. We are working with the City’s Development Services Department and promise that all plans will be reviewed by the Historic Resources Board and comply with the U.S. Secretary of the Interior’s Standards and Criteria for the Treatment of Historic Properties.”

On July 31we learned that 828 Venues is promising to show Councilmember Campbell’s office any new plans prior to officially submitting them to the City, to ensure the community is being heard.

For now we are keepin’ the faith. But not ready to party.
