I say, Ocean Beach and Point Loma – you have choices: either start complaining – or die because you didn’t.
Harsh? Yes. But do you know that as you sit and admire the green grass, the disappearing birds and bees, the city is slowly killing off every living thing near you? And it isn’t just the “birds and bees,” – it’s people. It is you too!
“Round-Up” is being spread everywhere in San Diego even as these words come out of my computer. Round-Up that is prohibited in almost every other country but sprayed here regularly. Here is a note I received today from Ann Jackson just minutes ago:
San Diego City has been using Round Up, a known carcinogenic, Dabbers in this very area all month. In fact they are using them there again today, July 9, 2019.
San Diego is inviting the community to come on down and help save the very area they are poisoning.
Yes! Come on down and walk through the area we spent the last month covering with Round Up. Bring the family, bring the dog, help San Diego save it.
I can’t even begin to express my outrage so I am tagging you all with the hopes you will express your outrage to our elected official and whoever organized this event.
Here is the “invitation” from the Point Loma Association to attend a Coastal Habitat Restoration event in the very same place where Round-Up is being sprayed:
“A Coastal Habitat Restoration event is coming up on Saturday, July 27, from 9am-12pm at Dog Beach in Ocean Beach. Spend your Saturday morning soaking up the sunshine and coastal breeze while you help save and restore one of the last remaining Coastal Dune and Wetland Habitats in San Diego!
Over 95% of these habitat areas no longer exist in California. Home to many endangered birds, fish and mammals, this area needs your help to remain as a viable habitat area. An educational walking tour will be included!
Activities Include invasive plant removal, native plant rescue, watering and care of recent plantings, trail maintenance, litter removal and an educational nature walk.
This event is open to volunteers of all ages – no experience necessary, but volunteers under the age of 16 must come with an adult. All tools and supplies are provided. Be sure to dress in clothes that can get a little dirty and wear closed-toe shoes, no sandals or flip-flops allowed for safety reasons. And bring plenty of water and sun protection!

Let me tell you that you are not going to just be “soaking up the sunshine and sea breeze.” You are going to be soaking up the poison from the Round-up. You will be soaking up “Glyphosate”, which has been judged to cause cancers in humans. And if you take your dogs along these sprayed trails, you are going to have them soak it up too.
Please – start making your voices heard. Tell the Point Loma Association that until they spray with a safe product you are not going to subject yourself to the possibility of dying a horrible death. Tell them that you like the birds and bees and you want to save them. Tell the City of San Diego to stop spraying Round-up. Tell Jen Campbell – DR. Jen Campbell – that you do not want Round-up sprayed in Point Loma and/or Ocean Beach. Tell them NOW. Tell them LOUD. For your preservation – for your children’s future – TELL THEM!!!!!

The workers at the old baseball field at the Nazarene near the cliffs are spraying some blue chemical. They seem to be wasting time and money. The guys were smoking, spitting and doing snot rockets when I was walking through there. They were disgusting spitting, smoking, spraying chemicals wasting time doing nothing from what it looked like except poisoning the landscape.
Hello. Per the pesticide usage reports I have obtained, the contractor, Habitat West is spraying Ranger Pro, a Monsanto glyphosate herbicide at Sunset Cliffs Natural Park.
One more thing I notice is at the public schools there are dead bees everywhere. If you play basketball or baseball you will notice dead bees everywhere on the sidewalks and basketball courts. I assume a lot of spraying goes on at the schools. Its sad to see all the dead bees everywhere. Also it looks like the 5G antennas are being installed everywhere which is supposed to harm insects, plants, etc. while releasing non-ionizing radiation into the atmosphere.

Interesting comment. Funny, it is exactly the same as a comment made over and over and over and over by one Mr. Al Rava on Nexdoor. Are you plagerizing Mr. Dehaba? Hmmm. Funny, I can’t seem to locate anyone named Dehaba in San Diego. Too bad The Rag allows pseudonyms and avatars…
At a Dusty Rhodes Parks/Rec council meeting we were informed that the city uses Round Up in all city parks excluding children’s play areas and the dog park. As if dogs and children as well as the rest of us do not walk on the grassy areas that surround both the play areas and the dog park. Check out “Non-toxic San Diego”, an organization committed to banish the use of all toxic/deadly poison in/on city facilities.

Judi – Thank you for helping to get the word out to our community. I just posted some disturbing pictures that were taken on July 3 at Dog Beach Ocean Beach on several local facebook groups. Why would the City of San Diego allow Round Up dabbers to be used prior to July 4, when the park was going to be packed with tourists, dogs and our families?
Maybe, quite frankly, because they just don’t give a damn.
