I have been to Fiddler’s Green many times.  Their Monday night steak special brings many locals to their restaurant when other restaurants have sluggish sales.

But I had heard about their breakfast, served only on Saturday 8-12 pm and 8-1:00 pm on Sundays and decided to try it with Hugh and Hitomi.   We were VERY glad that we did.

The menu was extensive, including over 20 items including Burrito’s, Biscuit and Gravy, Eggs Benedict, etc.  and many different bar drinks including Bottomless Mimosas ($11); Screwdrivers, Bloody Mary’s, etc.

But what made the decision so difficult was besides having a nice menu, there were 5 additional “specials.”  There was a Chorizo Omelet, a Denver Omelet, a Machaca Omelet, Pork Chops and Eggs, and Banana Pancakes.  It took the three of us some time to finally decide what to order.

Our waitress, Theresa, was delightful.  She put up with our endless questions; had a few of her own.  While waiting for our decision she showed us pictures of her cats; her garden, etc.  She made the meal complete.

Hugh finally decided to have the California Omelet. It consisted of three eggs, bacon, avocado, tomato and cheese. It was served with his choice of three kinds of potatoes – he chose mashed garlic potatoes, and bread. The price was very reasonable at $10.95.

“The Cowboy”

Hitomi had the “Cowboy Casserole.”  It was also $10.95 and had three eggs, sausage, bacon, onions, tomatoes and focaccia and also served with her choice of potatoes.  The focaccia was mixed in with the omelet – an interesting touch and texture.

I had the Denver Omelet, but asked for two eggs instead of 3. I think they gave me the same amount of ham that a three-egg omelet would have had because it was loaded with ham, onions, and peppers. It was the same price as the other two.

We all raved about our food.  It was hot; tasty; and more than one could eat comfortably.  (We did our best because there was not enough to take home in a doggie bag!)

Denver Omelet

I did notice that there was a veggie omelet, but do not know if “gluten-free” omelets are available.  However, the menu was certainly eclectic, and, true to their reputation of great food, the breakfast was delicious. And yes, I would go back again.  Soon.
