Saturday, April 27th was both beautiful and disgusting at the same time.  183 volunteers removed 217 pounds of trash from OB parks, streets, alleys and beaches in 3 hours.

The event was part of a larger countywide cleanup sponsored by I Love a Clean San Diego known as Creek to Bay.

Surfrider Foundation and Ocean Beach’s Cleaner Streets Initiative (CSI-OB) registered volunteers and helped coordinate assignments in some of the most littered areas.

The most commonly found items were cigarette butts, making the total number of pounds removed even more disgusting.

Check these pics out of some of those volunteers relaxing after the trash take-down and enjoying the after-party.

This event is one in a series of four annual OB community cleanups sponsored by the CSI-OB, the OBTC and local businesses such as the following:

  • Kilowatt Brewing,
  • OB People’s Organic Food Market,
  • OB Garden Cafe,
  • Ob Noodle House Bar 1502,
  • Raglan Public House,
  • Pizza Port OB,
  • OB Brewery,
  • OB Hardware,
  • Ob Eats,
  • Veracity Digital Media,
  • the OB Rag
  • and the OB Shuttle.

You can find out about upcoming events through the OBTC  calendar or follow CSI-OB on Facebook
