I had no idea
when I opened my eyes
on this beautiful day
that I would,
a bit later,
at midday,
be standing with a number
of loving peace seeking folks,
shaking our heads,
pledging, in our sadness,
to stay the course
against the madness
that brought us together
on this ill fated day:
our Muslim brothers and sisters
in New Zealand
who had their lives
taken away
by someone who
sees himself
and others with white skin
as supreme,
so much so that only they
among all human beings
are worthy of living lives
and having hopes and dreams –
It felt good being there
with folks
who resist such thinking,
folks who, no sooner than
they wipe the tears from their eyes,
keep on stepping
with those eyes forever
on the prize:
eliminating hatred
as much as we can
from our lives…

Thank you Mr. McCray…
Back to more protests/rallies I guess; recall the one at the airport sometime before, and us in support against those “others?” – heard about another attempt of an attack against Muslims somewhere while traveling home by train from Oxnard – was it someplace near SD?
I am on board. Keep up the good works.
