A friend of mine gave me a gift card for Leucadia Pizzeria for my birthday and I thought it would be fun to use it with a good friend from Leucadia.  He was going to meet me there and so we had two cars. When we pulled into the parking lot we found there were no parking places, but three spaces were taken up with Leucadia Pizzeria delivery vans.  There was no available parking on the street so we went somewhere else.

But this evening I only had one student home for dinner and I decided that I would use the gift card and order a pizza to be delivered to the house. (After all, I knew that they had delivery vans available!)

They have over 20 pizzas listed on their menu, ranging from $7.29 for a small cheese pizza to $25.99 for a large Lobster or Shrimp pizza. (For those of you that want a gluten-free pizza they are offered in all sizes and with all toppings.)  Making the decision was a difficult one, but I finally decided to purchase a small “Deluxe” pizza that had pepperoni, sausage, mushrooms, bell peppers, black olives, onions, mozzarella cheese and tomato sauce.  It was a reasonable $13.29.  I later found out that it had 6 slices.

I also wanted to order a half order of Antipasto, but when I went to place the order I was told that they did not have it available at this site. (They have 3 other stores.)  I asked if they were going to get it back and the young lady I spoke to said that she didn’t think so.  I ordered a half order of a Green Salad ($6.49) instead. It was advertised as having mixed greens, sliced tomatoes, grated Parmesan, croutons and red onions.  I had my choice of 11 dressings!

I have to admit that I can go years without having pizza.  It is not a food item that I really enjoy. But I have to say that this pizza was one of the best – if not the best – that I have ever had.  It was packed with the items it advertised; it was tasty; it was attractive; and it was really delicious.  I had two slices, one more than I usually have, and I finished each slice.  My student raved about it, and had 3 slices. She said she really wanted the last slice but was too full to do it justice.

The salad, although rather plain, had a nice Italian dressing, and it was also good.  Not as good as the pizza, but good.

The total bill was $23 without the tip and was well worth it.

In addition to the pizzas, there are appetizers and soups, 8 salads; regular pasta entrees; calzones; sub sandwiches and desserts.  They have a special “Dine-In Lunch Special” Monday thru Friday as well.

I think that “Leucadia Pizzeria” has just become the place that I will go for Pizza.  If the others are as good as this one was, they have a winning product.  The fact that they deliver all of their pizzas and you do not have to go to an outside delivery company is a plus as far as I am concerned. The pizza was delivered hot and we could eat it immediately.  I think that you will be pleased with the finished product.

Glad to hear the people that took over Domino’s are pushing out something that isn’t…Domino’s. I’ve passed this place a dozen times while out walking over the last few months and have always thought about giving it a try, but then I revert to Pizza Port, my family’s staple, for our monthly carb indulgence.

I think it’s time to give them a try…
