The Ocean Beach Planning Board will hold its last monthly meeting for the year this Wednesday, Dec. 5th, at the OB Recreation Center, 4726 Santa Monica Avenue at 6pm.

There are no projects to review apparently, but there are still some issues to be discussed.

One of them is the appointment by the Board of its members to the all-important Project Review Committee (PRC). The PRC has first crack at reviewing projects that come before the Board and its members often set the tone for the final review by the full board. Five members will be appointed to this sub-committee. And usually the vice-chair – in this case Kevin Hastings – is the chair of the PRC.

Another issue is whether to cancel the January Board meeting as it falls on the 2nd of the month. We’re sure the Board is inclined to cancel it, but here’s a consideration: Board candidates – the election is in March – must attend one Board meeting to be eligible for election to the Board – and they must do this before the March meeting (we believe) so that only leaves one meeting, the February one, for candidates to attend.

Speaking as a community member – Typically planning boards must hold a candidates forum. City has ruled that the candidates forum is the last opportunity to qualify oneself. So the February meeting and the candidates forum would both be opportunities prior to the Match elections if the January meeting was adjourned.
