In response to Trump’s firing of Attorney General Jeff Sessions and his appointment of loyal ally Matt Whitaker to be the “acting” Attorney General, nation-wide protests have been called for today, Thursday, Nov. 8 at 5pm.

In San Diego there will be a protest gathering at the downtown Federal Courthouse at 333 West Broadway. It’s being hosted by San Diego Indivisible and Mueller Rapid Response – San Diego – here’s their facebook page for the event -, which are part of a large network called “Nobody Is Above the Law“.

Over 900 protests are being coordinated as part of the nation-wide show of opposition.

Here’s what they say:

Nobody Is Above the Law—Mueller Protection Rapid Response

BREAKING: PROTESTS CALLED FOR THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 8, 5 PM LOCAL TIME

Donald Trump has installed a crony to oversee the special counsel’s Trump-Russia investigation, crossing a red line set to protect the investigation. By replacing Rod Rosenstein with just-named Acting Attorney General Matt Whitaker as special counsel Robert Mueller’s boss on the investigation, Trump has undercut the independence of the investigation.

Whitaker has publicly outlined strategies to stifle the investigation and cannot be allowed to remain in charge of it. The Nobody Is Above the Law network demands that Whitaker immediately commit not to assume supervision of the investigation. Our hundreds of response events are being launched to demonstrate the public demand for action to correct this injustice. We will update this page as the situation develops.

Donald Trump just crossed a red line, violating the independence of the investigation pursuing criminal charges in the Trump-Russia scandal and cover-up.

Trump putting himself above the law is a threat to our democracy, and we’ve got to get Congress to stop him.

We’re mobilizing immediately to demand accountability, because Trump is not above the law.

We will stay late into the night, so come as soon as you can get there. Bring signs and American flags if you can, but most importantly, bring friends! This will be a demonstration of massive peaceful resistance and will follow our belief that lawful dissent is a foundation of our democracy.

Come to the courthouse, even if it’s hard, even if it’s far, even if it’s inconvenient. We will stand shoulder to shoulder for truth and justice for all. We will need to attract more even people to protest at the courthouse on subsequent nights, so use your networks to spread the word.
