We have recently learned one of the lenders on the boarded-up and fenced-off 3-story at Ebers and Greene streets, ended up purchasing the place.

Apparently, Albert Boyajian bought the place at 2269 Ebers from the primary lender, Center Street Lending, for $925,000 a couple months after the trustee sale.

And, Boyajian has been sitting on the property for the last five months, doing nothing.

Yet, he’s a pretty big deal up in Los Angeles.

Albert Boyajian, from facebook.

Boyajian started an ethnic bakery empire, Global Bakeries, Inc., in 1978, located in Pacoima, California. They specialize in flatbread, ethnic pita bread, croissants, and bagels. Here’s what the website says:

Global Bakeries Inc. is one of the largest specialty bakeries privately owned in the western half of United States. Employing more than 150 employees in their state of art bakery facility in Pacoima, California.

The bakery was totally customized and built by its owner and acting president Albert Boyajian in 1985. Albert’s in-depth knowledge and baking expertise combined with old world baking traditions, new state of the art computerized equipment that can produce super premium bakery items in mass production format. The potential and further growth and expansion is unlimited!

Going back further, in 1968, he graduated from the University of Paris with a degree in Modern French Literature and then emigrated to the United States.

Boyajian also is a big-time lobbyist for Armenian causes – and has raised funds for Armenian boy scouts – as well as scoring a $9.5M federal endowment for the private Christian school Pepperdine. Wikipedia

We still don’t know what he plans to do with the property. Calls to his homephone have not been returned. So, it stands there, an eyesore for the community and a visible reminder of possible fraud and incompetence on the part of its previous owner and the city.

I always wonder about the wacko neighbor who put up mannequins, flags, etc. feels now? Bet he loves having this decrepit empty dinosaur next door. people in OB kill me sometimes (like a children’s game of “First!”) – the planning board and neighbor are to blame for this as well as the idiot developer.

Who would live there now? Ain’t worth $925K anymore…no matter how much delicious bread is in it.
