LimeBike Has Denied Bikes Launched in Ocean Beach

At the last meeting of the Ocean Beach Town Council on March 28th, we reported:

Zack Bartlett, general manager of LimeBike San Diego, told the crowd at the Ocean Beach Town Council meeting Wednesday night his bikes have not been deployed in OB, that the green bikes people see are from Point Loma and other communities where they have been deployed.

A number of people present questioned this claim.

Well, Mr. Bartlett, take a gander at these photos – both taken on February 23, 2018; they show your green bikes neatly lined up on Newport Avenue and over at the walkway entrance to Dog Beach.

Hat tip to photographer Daniel Daneri, who has sworn on the soul of Ocean Beach that he took these photos on February 23, 2018.

I have dealt with Mr. Daneri on a number of occasions and he has always been very honest and forthright, if he said that was when he took the pictures, I believe him. I don’t remember what night I was running at Dog Beach when I saw these bikes but they were lined up exactly as seen in this picture, so I can vouch for the accuracy of the Dog Beach picture.

Damn, but why did he have to lie? It’s obvious for anyone that has eyes that his company has launched. I would never rent from this liar and I will tell all my tourist friends rollin in OB too. Zack Bartlett, you played yourself.

Yeah, even if he didn’t “lie”, then he was profoundly mis-informed about what his company is doing….pictures are worth 1,000 words, and certainly more than an appearance at a meeting. And for everyone else complaining about OB “complaining” about everything new that comes in? Get over it. Everything should be questioned, especially if it hasn’t been previously presented, and most especially if its been presented inaccurately (let’s see for example: that would be Target, STVRs, alcohol licensing, home “remodels”, tree removals, public park plans…should I go on?). Bike rentals are an ok concept, but the implementation is a WHOLE different storyboard.

So great to have more options for transportation!
