New Gym in Downtown OB

A gym will be opening in the former James Gang at 1931 Bacon Street in Ocean Beach.  With a brand new coat of paint on the building, Performance 360 will be opening soon in the building that once housed the nation’s last single lane, manually-set bowling alley, and where the James Gang sat for years. The owners have just begun to move in some equipment. The gym company has two other facilities, both in Pacific Beach.

Here’s their intro on their website:

When we first opened Performance360 in the Spring of 2011, we were just two friends in a small, dirty converted boathouse with no money, no clients, armed only with the dual conviction to challenge what a gym experience should be.  A culture hell bent on developing people, not destroying them.

It’s not clear whether any of them were aware of the San Diego Housing Commission’s request to the neighborhood to stay off the track until a meeting of everyone involved is held.

A Reminder: Sunnie’s Has Re-opened in South OB

Sunnie’s restaurant on Point Loma Ave in south OB has reopened – to the delight of locals. Actually, they’ve been open for a while as we reported back in October – and the Widder Curry did a review, also last October. They’re at 4723 Pt. Loma Avenue and have lots of outdoor seating.

So sad about Mozana bead shop. I spoke to Denise briefly when she was packing her car with her things. She lived behind the shop and also has to move out of OB. She’s never lived outside the 92017 ZIP and doesn’t know how to live anywhere else. She said she hopes to be back soon. I wish her well and hope to see her around.
