In a parking lot of the Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in San Ysidro, 500 San Diegans rallied against President Trump and his wall. Trump was over at the prototypes during part of the rally.

The general theme, “Build Bridges Not Walls”, was highly visible as a variety of faith-based organizations and groups that have mobilized since Trump’s election came together to oppose his policies on the wall, immigration and other issues. Folks from Women’s March, Indivisible, ImpeachTrump mingled with immigrants’ rights groups and Democratic party activists.

Speakers from a variety of views – reflecting the groups that organized the event – delivered messages critical of Trump with calls for immigration reform.

A host of local, Mexican and national media covered the event.

This reporter spoke with individuals who had attended earlier rallies – such as one at the IRS building in downtown San Diego where several hundred attended and the one at the border itself, where dozens held anti-Trump and anti-wall signs.

Trump was reportedly only at the prototypes for about 45 minutes and then was ferried back to Miramar air station.

OB’s own Rick Callejon was seen holding the “W” – wearing his “Keep the OBcean Attitude” shirt.

We need to encourage people to be more than outraged. Outrage gets us nothing and the Trumpolinis LOVE to stir it up to waste energy and focus.
Get everyone off their butts TO VOTE REPUBLICANS OUT.
They have supported this travesty POS POTUS essentially 100% of the time. No excuses.
VOTE VOTE VOTE.
If you’re not registered there are voter reg people at the Farmer’s Markets, through San Diego Indivisible Downtown (https://sdindivisible.com) or do it online (https://registertovote.ca.gov). If you moved and have a new address, re-register now.

It’s usually best to wait for the election because registering can put you on the jury duty list.

It’s great to see people involved. I’m always curious how they get off work to do that though. Is it all retirees and students?

Really? Jury duty is why people don’t vote? You know that if you’re self-employed, or your boss refuses to pay you to go to jury duty, you can claim financial hardship and opt out, right?

I always show up even though I could get the waiver, even though I always end up getting myself kicked off every jury I’ve ever been put on – once you’ve been kicked off a jury (usually before lunch), you’re done for at least another year…

I’m only stating the smart thing to do is to register to vote just prior to voting. I’ve been to jury duty a couple of times and just sit in a hot room. Never even getting to actually serve.

Jury duty? I had the impression this article was about the demo. Don’t register to vote because you might get jury duty? How about don’t register to vote, because voting is is a tool to keep you thinking you actually have a voice in government?
