OB Rag Editordude: ‘I Wish I Had Gotten that Flu Shot.’

As several friends have reminded me, I’m getting older. And that means I should’ve gotten that flu shot.

Now I regret not getting one, as the flu hit me like a ton of bricks about ten days ago. I’m still not well – although I am functioning. That’s why posting on the OB Rag these last couple of weeks has been light.

Malaise, chills, a heavy deep and hacking cough, no energy, brain cloud, a headache just below the surface – the symptoms …. I hate being sick and those first 3 to 4 days were just wasted.

So, if you haven’t gotten sick this flu season, go ahead and get a flu vaccination. Even if they’re only 10% effective.

Take it from me – the guy who never gets a flu shot – it’s worth it – just so you have a chance to not come down with this crap.

“The number of influenza cases reported in the San Diego region jumped last week and included the fifth fatality of “flu season,” county health officials reported Wednesday.

The tally of flu cases was already running well ahead of 2016, but 563 cases were confirmed by laboratory testing last week, compared to 227 the week before, according to the county Health and Human Services Agency. The flu season total is now 1,646, compared to 451 at a similar point last year.

The HHSA said the latest fatality was of a 91-year-old man who was already suffering from a medical condition. There were four deaths at this time last year.” https://patch.com/california/san-diego/5-flu-deaths-reported-san-diego-county?utm_source=alert-breakingnews&utm_medium=email&utm_term=weather&utm_campaign=alert
