There’s a fundraiser concert this Thursday night – August 17th – for the Ocean Beach Woman’s Club and it’s all happening at OB’s newest music and bar venue – The Holding Company – 5046 Newport Avenue.
Big Mountain
The San Diego reggae band Big Mountain will be playing, with proceeds benefiting the Woman’s Club. Doors to the event swing open at 7 p.m. with the concert beginning at 8pm.
The main reason the historic and popular Club needs money is to to install a new floor for its clubhouse at Bacon Street and Muir. A new floor is a necessity for the OB institution to maintain its facility, its programs and to be able to rent the space out to other individuals and organizations, which it does to fund its budget.
The Woman’s Club has been around since 1924 and it’s quite a score for them to have Steve Yeng, THC’s owner, to offer up his music hall for the benefit. Reportedly, the Woman’s Club has raised just over $6,500 of a $10,000 goal. Steve Yeng himself has donated $2,500.
VIP Tickets cost $30 and include access to a hosted bar from 8 p.m. until 9 p.m. during the concert, with proceeds from this ticket benefiting the club. Regular tickets are $20, but the proceeds do not go to the club. Tickets are available on The Holding Company’s website.
