Editor: The Widder Curry writes that in the past 3-4 weeks she has noticed an odd thing happening on Sunset Cliffs. Women are walking by, very scantily dressed, not walking their dog, and being fairly flamboyant in their dress. At the same time she has noticed that cars are coming by; talking to these women, and the next thing she knows, she says, the women are getting into the cars. So, she has come up the following, to be sung to the tune of “How Much Is That Doggie in the Window.”
______________
How Much is that Hooker on the Ocean?
The one with her boobs hanging out,
she sways as she walks on the sidewalk,
I wonder what it’s all about.
The cars seem to stop and watch her,
She comes to the window and talks,
Sometimes she gets right inside it,
And sometimes I even see her balk.
Is Sunset Cliffs turning into a hooker street
Where drugs, drink and sex can be bought?
There seems to be a lot more traffic,
But I wonder what is being sought.
The action begins at sunset,
When people are all milling about,
The first time I noticed the action,
Was when I heard a male voice shout!
“Hey pretty lady, What are you selling”
She turned around and gave him a smile,
“I’m selling what you want to be buying,
I’ll meet you up the road a mile.”
I seem to be seeing this more often,
I wonder if I’m the only one,
I hope I am wrong, and if not,
I wish that something would be done.
Don’t sit by yourself and ignore it,
Let those in charge be told.
We need to stop the practice quickly,
Before it really gets old.
It’s bad enough that we have the homeless,
We don’t need the druggies, too.
But when the gals are turning tricks,
You are looking at the wrong view.
So let’s keep our eyes wide open,
And if we see something that’s amiss,
Pay attention to whom is participating,
It may not be just a harmless kiss.
There are people to call if there’s a problem,
Or it may not exist at all,
But if you see it happen more often,
Don’t hesitate to make that call.

Where is the ranger?
I am not surprised and this whole scene makes me very angry. I have actually lost interest in walking on the cliffs because there is usually such a strong smell of marijuana that it is no longer a peaceful escape into nature for me. I would prefer fresh air on a walk by the cliffs. It is no longer a peaceful and quiet time for reflection for me. I once walked by somebody shooting heroin in their car. that could happen anywhere but it happened on the cliffs. let’s just throw the hookers in with that too. And the stabbings. And the hit and runs.
We found out last night at the OBTC meeting that the ranger was injured (non-work related) and will be getting back on the job very soon.
I’ve seen um strollin between Le Chalet and the Arizona Café. But That was a few years ago’
Let’s not forget, either, that we’re talking about victim-less crimes of consensual sex between adults. We’re not talking about it being okay for human trafficking.
