Planning Board to Meet at Masonic Center

The OB Rag has just learned that the Ocean Beach Planning Board will be taking up the issue of a Target Express coming into OB.

Taking up Target will occur during their regular monthly meeting to be  held Wednesday, August 2nd.  In anticipation of  a large crowd, the Planning Board meeting has been moved to a different venue, the OB Masonic Center, located at 1711 Sunset Cliffs Blvd.

The meeting starts at 6pm. The official agenda will be available soon.

The OB Rag broke the story on July 5th of a Target Express coming to the Newport Ave Antique Center.

Opposition began forming immediately. A poll on an OB facebook on the issue involving over 500 respondents resulted in 70% opposed to the store, checking the box for “Terrible. Keep OB Local.” There’s also a Keep Target Out of OB petition. And anti-Target T-shirts have been selling out of James Gang on Cable.

OB will be just fine without a Target store. The community of OB is special in it’s avoidance of corporate America. Keep Dayton Hudson out of OB! No offence Minnesota Senator Mark Dayton! OB needs more art, bike and other locally owned small businesses. Daniel “Danny” Smiechowski 50 year friend of OB and candidate SD CC D2! Elect Danny to preserve the character of OB!

Target express would thrive in ob. Because shopping local is for other people, I can’t afford that, my rent is too high.

All our dirty poor lazy residents will go there instead of supporting other local businesses that sell the same stuff. Apple tree would go out of business (but that’s ok can probably get by on his rent check from the south park property that he leases to Target Express.)
