From Save Kellogg Beach
A persistent developer continues to promote their plan to build condos right on Kellogg Beach. They have lawyers, lobbyists and a whole hired team of people that are trying to convince the City that this project meets all Municipal codes and will not be detrimental to the beach or community.
But, They are Wrong.
They have again revised the plans to attempt to comply with codes and aspects that are clearly against the best interests of the Point Loma community.

But, the proposed condos will still :
- Hinder public beach access, with a portion built on to the beach
- Include a seawall that will accelerate erosion
- Include subterranean parking built well below the average sea levels
- Will block existing public view corridors
- Will be totally out of character for the small stretch of Kellogg’s Beach
- Will effectively create a walled off effect to the bay
- Will exacerbate parking and traffic in the area
- Will create an increased safety risk for families that walk along the street to access the beach
As a Point Loma native, PLHS class of 74, I am respectfully asking everyone who cares to get involved. This is a bad development for our community and could set a precedent for 30’ – 40’ condo buildings all across Kellogg’s Beach.

This is a small public beach, cherished by all who live near to it and by those who visit here. The proposed construction will include a seawall. Seawalls are well documented to cause erosion and damage to beaches.
The property will be built up and out into the tides, so that much of the day you will not be able to access Kellogg Beach at the Lawrence St entrance. This is the only city designated entrance to Kellogg Beach that has steps going down to the beach.
The project will be creating 9 condominium units in a 30’+ high structure where there has always been but one low-rise home. These additional homes and residents will create more traffic and congestion at Kellogg Beach and will impact ingress and egress in La Playa.
The building will be a massive structure that will block beautiful public views of the marina and bay. These are public views from the streets that are enjoyed by hundreds, if not thousands of people who live in La Playa and those who visit this area.
Finally, this development will be the first 30’++ high condominium building to be built on the last remaining section of Kellogg Beach. There are currently but 3 low-rise homes on the beach. Replacing one of these with a large condo building will forever change the look and character of Kellogg’s and, it will set a precedent to do the same on the remaining portions of this beach.

We are asking the Peninsula Community Planning Board to recommend against this proposed development of condominiums on Kellogg Beach.
