UPDATE: The following is provided by Watch Commander Officer Buttle
Synopsis:
The victim and his female friend were renovating an upstairs apartment. An unknown suspect drove up, parked in the parking lot and started honking his horn and whistling at the victim’s female friend.
From the balcony the victim and suspect got into a verbal argument. The victim told the suspect to leave the property when he challenged him to come down and fight.
About an hour later the suspect returned, took a ladder from his truck and climbed up to the balcony. The victim was on his knees scrapping paint off a window when the suspect charged the victim with a knife.
The victim fearing for his life hit the suspect with the paint scrapper and fell back into the window, breaking the glass cutting the victim.
The two fought on the floor and the suspect stabbed the victim in the leg and calf. The victim punched the suspect in the face causing him to become partially unconscious.
The victim and female ran to the fire station across the street for help.
Officers arrived, and with K-9 took the suspect into custody in the apartment. The weapon used during the incident was recovered at the scene.
Both the victim and suspect were transported to the hospital. Their injuries were not life threatening.

There isn’t much information known to the public yet, but there was a major police action at the ABC Liquor Store at Voltaire and Ebers Monday, April 24th.
Police responded to reports that a man was stabbed during a fight in the apartment above the well-known storefront. Reportedly one guy was stabbed a couple of times, even knocked unconscious, before he ran outside. He was taken by para-medics to a local hospital with undetermined wounds.
Police then went to the apartment made an arrest of a suspect. The identity of the man arrested is not known.
A woman was involved; she was interviewed by police but was not arrested. San Diego Union-Tribune

Yeah, well we had about the same amount of commotion and weaponry a block east on Voltaire, between Ebers and Froude. It always seems to be a ‘staging area’ for incidents… Seuss’ Mulberry Street its not. :-(
We had 4 police cars, lights flashing, and the victim’s or suspect’s truck, parked right outside our building for HOURS. Officers were walking around with a shotgun, and at one point with a handgun out, a helicopter circled overhead for almost an hour, and cop cars arrived and left continually for the next four hours. The girlfriend sat in the back of one police vehicle at the curb for over 3 hours and was not arrested. A very noisy tow truck finally arrived at 10 pm to remove the truck. Just another day on this block.
Was it the suspects girlfriend or the victims girlfriend??
Im assuming it is was the suspects girlfriend as you mention she sat in a police car for 3 hours but was not arrested….Was she a blonde pregnant girl? Please reply if you or the other neighbors know.
Thank you!
