Every now and then, there seems to be a spurt of graffiti activity in Ocean Beach. And usually, locals respond and paint over the markings left on walls, fences, and OB cliffs. Many of those locals wish to remain anonymous – in the photos some of them have been pixelated.
Much of this graffiti and who deals with it is unknown by your usual villager here in Ocean Beach. Out of sight, out of mind.
So, here is a photo tribute to those who deal with it – the individuals and their work; some of the graffiti has been pixelated in order not to broadcast gang markings.

I can’t believe that here in OB no one knows who any of the taggers are.
Paint ball gun the taggers – a few examples of “tag the tagger” might help.
This crap’s gotta stop, and no, it’s not “art”, especially on the cliffs.
How about an article of what graffiti is from what tagger if it’s known – doesn’t SDPD keep track of this?
Next to the condo I own near SDSU there is a large storm drain/runoff from the canyon that is city owned. It’s cement and in pretty good shape. I can see it from my balcony and it’s only about 20 feet away.
One day I notice a kid down there spray painting on the wall when I’m walking by. He spots me and gets up and leaves. The next weekend I’m in my living room and I can hear faint music playing and it was coming from down there. I look down, he’s down there again spray painting and listening to music out loud in the middle of the day.
I called the police, stayed on the phone with them for 45 mins while this kid kept spray painting and the cops never showed up. I had someone hook line and sinker to be caught in the act and they did not care. The graffiti is still there 2 years later and now before I sell my place I’m going to have to go down there and paint over it.

Why are there no police patrol on foot catches these crooks? We get lousy cameras….maybe they should have been placed on the cliffs.
Lame article. I enjoy ob rag usually but if filler articles like this become the norm i will have to fulfill my need for real local elsewhere.
