Protest the Project at Ebers and Greene
The owner-developer of the project still under construction at the corner of Ebers and Greene was able to begin building without any review by the OB Community Planning Board or any review by the California Coastal Commission. —- He did this by calling a full 2-story house as an “addition” to an already existing house – and the City’s Development Services Division allowed it.

The details are not strong on the web site, but you can view what the city says and request to see the plans and Cycle Comments at DSD Records.
I’m pretty sure that unless you are the owner or an agent of the owner you’re not entitled to see the drawings.
No actually the plans are available for public review, you just can’t copy anything. All it takes is to set up an appointment with the project manager at the city.
I need to make a correction here. The plans are available for viewing in Records downtown at 1222 First St. I thought the plans used to go to Records only after a project was completed, which makes sense. But, I’ve been told the plans go to Records once a permit is issued. If there is a change, the plans are pulled by plan reviewers and returned later. Doesn’t seem logical to me. I sent a request to see these plans to the PM and she told me they should be in Records but she checked. She was very helpful and it turned out the plans had been pulled for review by a structural reviewer and I would not be able to see them until she returned them to Records. I asked for, and she gave me, the structural engineer’s contact information who told me she returned them yesterday. I am planning on going down to Records tomorrow morning first thing once I verify today that Records has the plans back.
Thank you for doing this, Geoff. You are helping to provide a “Reference Manual for Citizens” who want to go through the same process for a different project.
You may not copy the plans, but it is my understanding they are available for review. A call to the city will tell you.
