Ocean Beach Town Hall Meeting on Construction Project Set for Wed., Oct. 19th

The Ocean Beach Town Hall meeting on the construction project at Ebers and Greene has been set for Wednesday October 19th at 6pm at the OB Recreation Center, 4726 Santa Monica Avenue.

The Town Hall meeting idea grew out of the rally against the project held last Saturday, the 15th. Both chairs of the OB Planning Board and of the Peninsula Community Planning Board had agreed during the rally to organize the gathering.

Chairs John Ambert of OB and Jon Linney of the Peninsula both spoke at the rally – and when Linney described how Point Lomans had demonstrated and organized their own town hall meeting on the 4-story project at Emerson and Evergreen and had forced a “stop work” order from Mayor Faulconer, people in the crowd at the rally yelled out that is what OB should do.

“What do we need to do – then?” asked one woman at the OB protest – “- organize a town hall meeting and get 200 people there?”

Others expressed their support for the idea – and it took hold. And once the planning chairs had conferred between themselves, they announced to the crowd that they would organize such a public meeting during this upcoming week in order to keep the pressure on.

And so we have it.  We need 200 OBceans to turn out for this meeting. Ocean Beach needs to keep the pressure on the City, our elected officials – including our state representatives – , the Development of Services Department – and to continue to educate our fellow citizens of the village.
