Many years ago when my husband was still alive, we ate frequently at the Kobe Udon in the Longs Shopping Center.(Midway Towne Center).  Kobe Udon is no more, nor is Longs, but “Sushi Pho Sure” is in the same location that Kobe Udon was those many years ago.   Since Hitomi and I were going to shop at the Grocery Outlet we decided to try out the restaurant and see how it compared to “Seaside Pho & Grill”, which we reviewed several weeks ago.

I had hoped that they had continued with the Udon that I always enjoyed at Kobe’s, but they had not.  The menu is extensive, in that there are many varieties of sushi and sashimi available. (Maki sushi; specialty sushi; Hand Rolls; Nigiri sushi; Special sushi’s, etc.) Their prices were also reasonable starting at about $3.85 for a 5 piece hand roll.  In fact, all of their prices were very reasonable, from their starters at $1.00 – egg roll – to $5 for many of their items.  I didn’t see anything on the menu more than $10.

And because the restaurant is owned by a very pleasant man from Viet Nam, the pho’s were also extensive.  Hitomi had the mixed vegetables and tofu ($6.95) and everything was fresh and tasty.  She said she preferred the type of noodles served at “Seaside”, but I could not find out what kind these were compared to the other restaurant. They were still good.

Since the restaurant did not have Udon, I ordered a miso soup, an egg roll, and the vegetable tempura ($6.96)  The soup was hot and tasty; the egg roll cooked well, and although the vegetables were not uniform in size – some sliced very thick; some very thin – it was well prepared and not greasy.  The dipping sauce was nothing special, and after the first few “dips” I did not use it.

Their drink menu included beer and wine, as well as sodas and lemonade.  (I ordered a lemonade but they were out of it.)  There is no dessert on the menu.

There was one distraction, however, that bothered me.  There is a large television in one corner and it was on loudly.  I am not sure if it was in the kitchen or over by the sushi counter the owner was listening to either another television or radio that was blaring out a different station and it was very annoying.  Have one or the other; don’t have it so loud; it truly detracted from the conversation that Hitomi and I were trying to have.

Fixings for pho.

The total bill was $18.53, not including a tip.  (I left $22.00.) Would we go back? Yes.  For the cost, the amount of food given, and the taste it was well worth it.

When I originally left a comment I seem to have clicked the -Notify me when new comments are added- checkbox
and from now on each time a comment is added I get four emails
with the same comment. There has to be a way you can remove me from that service?
Thanks a lot!
