OB Ebb Tide fire 11-12-15

Ebb Tide Motel – screen capture from Fox5

An unidentified guy set fire to a unit at the Ebb Tide Motel in Ocean Beach Thursday night, Nov. 12th, and then was arrested by San Diego police. Fox5 reported on the incident, and stated that the guy was someone who had been evicted.

A neighbor tried to put out the flames but the guy began throwing things at the neighbor.

By time first responders arrived, the fire had gained momentum. Police subdued the guy and took him into custody, while firefighters keep the fire in the unit’s kitchen. The fire had apparently started by rags and t-shirts being burned on the stove.

Para-medics took the man to UC San Diego Medical Center with minor cuts and abrasions. A police officer also suffered from smoke inhalation.

On an OB facebook page, some observers complained that there were too many first responders.
