October 16th    Friday  7 p.m.  Film Night   “Queen of the Sun”

QUEEN OF THE SUN: What Are the Bees Telling Us? is a profound, alternative look at the global bee crisis from award-winning filmmaker Taggart Siegel, director of REAL DIRT ON FARMER JOHN . Taking us on a journey through the catastrophic disappearance of bees and the mysterious world of the beehive, this engaging and ultimately uplifting film weaves an unusual and dramatic story of the heartfelt struggles of beekeepers, scientists and philosophers from around the world including Michael Pollan, Gunther Hauk and Vandana Shiva. Together they reveal both the problems and the solutions in renewing a culture in balance with nature.  Free of Charge  :-)

After 26 years of environmental, peace, and social justice activism, our movement has received 501(C)(3) federal and tax exempt state approved non-profit status!  Come and celebrate with us at our annual Halloween fundraiser event.  Music, Speakers, Refreshments, and more!  Come in costume as a historical figure for the cause, political villain, or as yourself!

October 6th    Tuesday    12:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.  Food Waste Solution Summit 2015  Jacobs Center, 404 Euclid Avenue San Diego, CA 92114.  Come together to learn and take collective action towards a hunger-free and sustainable San Diego County.  Be inspired and contribute to big ideas. October 8th    Thursday    9:00 a.m.  SeaWorld Orca Enclosure Expansion Application on the California Coastal Commission Agenda  Long Beach Convention & Entertainment Center Seaside Ballroom, 300 E Ocean Blvd., Long Beach, CA 90802.  Agenda Item #14,  Application No. 6-15-0424 (SeaWorld Orca Enclosure Expansion, San Diego)  Application of SeaWorld San Diego to replace and expand existing orca enclosure with new 450,000 gallon and 5.2 million gallon pools and construct new restroom facilities, at 500 Sea World Dr., San Diego, San Diego County. October 20th    Tuesday    7:30 p.m.    “This Changes Everything” Documentary Screening  Angelika Carmel Mountain Cinema, 11620 Carmel Mountain Rd, San Diego 92128.  Inspired by Naomi Klein’s international non-fiction bestseller. Things do not look good. South Carolina–crushed by weather.
KPRI–gone to the dark side. Time to eliminate that preset on the car radio. New format sucks.
