A Candidates’ Forum and an update on the OB Veterans Plaza headline the Ocean Beach Town Council’s August 26 public meeting. The Council meets at 7:00pm at the Masonic Lodge – located at 1711 Sunset Cliffs Blvd.

The Forum is for candidates who are seeking election to the OBTC Board of Directors. The Council then holds elections during the remainder of the month for the 8 seats that are open. To be eligible to vote, you must be a member of the OBTC. (It’s too late to apply to be a candidate, as written candidates statements were due by midnight on Monday, August 24th.

Additional election details

At Wednesday’s meeting, there will also be an update on the OB Veterans Plaza, a project of the OB CDC, and the Name Inscription Applications now available.

And as usual, there will be brief addresses by a variety of representatives of elected officials who represent OB on some level, as well as comments by law enforcement and public safety reps.

In their latest newsletter, the OB Town Council is tooting its horn – as well as it should be – about the work they’ve accomplished over the last month to better Ocean Beach – which include:

  • Cleaning up the graffiti on the OB Entryway Sign and offering a $500 award leading to the arrest and conviction of the vandal;
  • Successfully advocating for the approval of the OB Community Plan before the Coastal Commission; and
  • Awarding $8,000 in community grants to 13 local groups that the OBTC believes is “making OB more awesome!”
