OB Plan Bd agenda 04-01-15The OB Planning Board will hold its monthly meeting Wednesday night, April 1st, over at the OB Rec Center.  The Center is located at 4726 Santa Monica Avenue and the meeting starts sharply at 6pm.

The agenda, posted above, does not include any housing development projects but does have several important issues.

One, the Board needs to certify its recent election and the new members will take their seats.Unofficially the results were:

DISTRICT 3
Blake Herrschaft

DISTRICT 4
Andrew Waltz

DISTRICT 6
Thomas Gawronski

Then the Board needs to take up the election of officers, Chair, Vice-Chair, Secretary and Treasurer.

Pete Ruscitti has been the Chair over the past year and has provided steady and insightful leadership. He is part of a younger crew of planners who have taken on the responsibilities of this significantly important organization for the community.

The younger wave also includes John Ambert the Vice-Chair who heads up the major sub-committee of the Board, the Project Review Committee, and Treasurer Drew Wilson, with veteran planner Scott Therkalsen as Secretary rounding out the leadership circle.

The only local project on the agenda is an update on the “Crosswalk Project” (we believe this refers to  the proposed crosswalk in South OB that was discussed in March).

Last on the Action agenda is a “forum” on the very controversial One Paseo Project during which advocates and opponents will square off and present the cases for their side.  The massive commercial and housing project in Carmel Valley was recently passed by the City Council over the objections of four community planning committees – which does not speak well for the Council’s respect of local planning boards, like the OB Board. There is a petition circulating to place the project on the ballot.
