San Diego Climate Action Plan logoThe March meeting meeting of the Pt Loma Democratic Club is about climate action (or inaction) on the San Diego region generally and the beach areas in particular. The PL Dems will be hosting the Climate Action Campaign organizers.

The meeting is on Sunday, March 22nd from 4:00PM – 5:30PM and will be held at the Point Loma Assembly, 3035 Talbot St, San Diego, CA 92106.

From the PL Dem Website:

The Climate Action Campaign is based in San Diego and is looking to build support for the City’s draft Climate Action Plan and ensure its successful passage and implementation. To do this requires creating a powerful base of support for climate protection by enlisting community leaders, grassroots organizations, students, small business owners, and policymakers.

Kath Rogers, Operations Director and Brian Elliott, Campaign Organizer will present an overview of Climate Action Campaign, the City’s Climate Action Plan and discuss Community Choice Energy, a mechanism the City is exploring to reach its renewable energy goals. The Community Action Plan is a legally enforceable document which sets out goals for the following:

  • Energy and water efficient buildings
  • Clean and renewable energy
  • Biking, walking and transit
  • Zero waste
  • Climate resiliency

Here is a link to the full plan (PDF).

For additional info call (619) 800-5098. Also members are encouraged to get together from 3:30PM before the meeting starts, please bring whatever light drinks/snacks that you’d like to share. And after the meeting ends they suggest adjourning to the Point Break Cafe at 2743 Shelter Island Dr to sit outside on the (dog-friendly) deck and continue our progressive conversation. Happy Hour is until 6:30pm.

Thanks for the write up. It was a fascinating meeting with a great turnout. Congressmember Scott Peters joined the meeting and also of great interest was Joe LaCava’s criticism of the One Paso Petition drive. If you get the chance take a look at his explanation at http://j.mp/onepaseo and feel free to disseminate as the deadline to sign is March 25.
