Point Loma google satelliteThe OB Rag masthead declares that we cover Ocean Beach and Point Loma. And if you’ve been noticing, the OB Rag of late has been running numerous articles about Point Loma, the Peninsula and other neighborhoods of the area.

Besides our consistent coverage and reporting on the decisions and issues of the Ocean Beach Planning Board, we have been reporting on the meetings and issues of the Peninsula Community Planning Board and the Midway Planning Committee.

We are now covering meetings of various Point Loma groups, the sales of property in neighborhoods nearby,  and also restaurant reviews of Peninsula eateries.

Plus, we are trying to provide indept reporting of Point Loma environmental and residential issues and complaints from local residents, such as those complaints of Cañon Street truck noise and speeding, local grassroots organizing against over-development in Point Loma, a sewage spill at Garbage Beach along Sunset Cliffs, news from local PL schools, and just plain, basic urber news of the region. We have provided coverage of events sponsored by such groups as the Pt Loma Association and the La Playa Trail Association.

So, you can see – that we have been trying to do our part – provide local news and info about local events in the Peninsula.

But we need help!

We need Point Lomans to step up and give us some assistance …

The OB Rag needs residents to send us newsy tips, info on projects going on in their neighborhoods, meetings that they’d like to see coverage on, photos of interest – we need volunteer writers, photographers, and poets to send us their work, observations and news.

And importantly, since the OB Rag is not a big-time website with lots of cash, we don’t have a deep-pockets sugar daddy or momma, so we need Point Lomans to send us donations – either via checks in the mail or to our PayPal Account on our homepage. We have a number of OBceans who contribute a small amount monthly, like $5, $10, even $20.  These folks are sustaining us.

Now in order to sustain our coverage of Point Loma, we need like contributors. We do pay our reporters some, and in order to keep up our coverage, those who really appreciate and rely on our posts, stories, and articles about their communities on the Point have to demonstrate to us that our work is being highly appreciated.

Point Lomans are not going to get any local news from one source any other way.

We appeal to our readers, supporters and friends in Point Loma.

Frank, I’m in town for 3 weeks, and I’ll be leaving a check for the OB Rag at the Green Store. Glad to help.

When do you think you’ll leave the check? Wasn’t there last nite when I checked.

Why don’t you cover how the pier is ruined at night now? And the parking lot with the cop trailer? Ruined. Massive street lights installed, no vote? No info?
It looks lit up like Saturday detention now. Crap.

They were installed earlier this month with some degree of fanfare. There was also an approving photo in the U-T yesterday. I appreciate your viewpoint — one person’s enhanced sense of security is another’s “Saturday detention.” Have you contacted Ed Harris’ office?
