I think the paint should stay. The hostel is an iconic piece of unique OB art.
One of the reasons people visit OB is its unique take on life.

I LOVE the exterior of the Hostel as it is true to the cultural make up of OB and the surrounding coast. It is whimsical and attractive. That is my humble opinion and thank you for asking for it. — Kat

The way the hostel looks is unique, as is OB and we should strive to keep it that way. There are plenty of run of the mill, boring buildings in SD, we don’t need that in OB.
I do agree with what the other poster said about the Silver Spary Apartment building though.
Painting it over would be a slap in the face to the spirit of OB. You can’t walk past the hostel without feeling a little pride & having a little smile.
Please don’t change anything!
Keep it the way it is…it expresses something unique about OB. Besides, it was only done recently and the colors are still bright.
I don’t like it, it’s too much, it’s a sore to the eyes. I like the idea behind it, I just think they went a little too much over the top.

Poor little hostel just sat there like a grayish-white lump all those years. Then, little by little, it was transformed into the bright funky Spirit of OB site we’re looking at now. Please leave it alone – at least for a while.
I stayed there two times early fall 2013. Loved the beautiful painting of the place. Cheerful and bright, just like the visitors. Keep the colors alive. I will be back…
The paint and peace symbol should stay. It is iconic. Unique whimsical sensibility like the town.

Oh jeez, I can’t believe anybody would even think about painting over the current artwork. It’s among the best, most OB defining artwork in the community. A resounding KEEP THE HOSTEL PAINT JOB AS IT IS!

This ‘establishment’ not only standsa as one of a kind, shared to travelers hostile, but an exemplary location shared with the community as a living-in art form to continued to be shared with tomorrow even more so than today!
