Every Halloween in OB for the last several years Tyler Standley and his friends offer up to anyone who shows, a tour of their OB Haunted House that they construct.
The free haunt starts outdoors and spans the common area of an entire apartment building and then proceeds through the neighboring house’s full garage, backyard, side yard and front.
It takes Tyler and his friends roughly 2 months to build the complex, and it takes between 15 to 20 minutes to get through.
Each year, told the OB Rag, it has grown bigger and scarier, attracting a line from all around San Diego.
The OB Haunted House is located at 4964 Saratoga Ave, and has a facebook page.
Tyler told us that they have anywhere between 15-30 actors in the haunt and run it one night only, Halloween – from dusk to midnight or “till we get shut down or the line is finished”.
They do cater early in the evening to younger kids, offering them ‘friendly” guides and less of a scare, and then turn the haunt into a full blown adult event once the trick or treating is over.
Tyler said:
“It’s not rare to watch full grown adults running out of the haunted house crying.”
