UPDATE:  There has been a confirmed sighting of Elizabeth Ricks Sullivan. Local NBC is reporting that on Sunday, Oct. 19th, she was seen in Liberty Station at the soccer fields on just before noon, and was wearing  black stretch style cloth pants and a gray sweatshirt.

A woman from Point Loma has now been missing for one week. Elizabeth Sullivan, a mother of two young daughters whose husband is in the Navy, was last seen on October 13th at her Point Loma home near Liberty Station. Police have reported that Sullivan’s car is in the garage.

Understandably, family and friends are extremely worried for her safety. Sullivan has family in Virginia.

Sullivan’s last contact reportedly was with a friend Nathan Caracter, a text message on the 13th, and her phone has been off ever since.  Caracter spoke to the press and told them he had contact with Sullivan on Sunday night – that’s the 12th. He said:

“We left it at ‘talk to you tomorrow’ … didn’t hear from her again.”

Sullivan and husband Matthew, according to Caracter, have been having marital problems. He is the one who contacted police and filed a missing persons report.

Sullivan’s father in Virginia told local media:

“I texted her several messages and she didn’t respond, and I haven’t heard anything since then.”

Her dad, Tony Ricks, told Channel 10 that they talk up to 2 to 3 times a day. He is the one who had last contact with her on Monday – and they had a disagreement, Ricks said. Sullivan is 31.  It is also reported that Matthew, Sullivan’s husband, has been notified of her disappearance and has been in contact with police and her family.

Sullivan is African-American, 5 foot 3 inches tall, weighs 130 pounds and has dark hair and brown eyes. Police said it is not known what she was wearing at the time of her disappearance.

Anyone with information on her whereabouts is urged to contact SDPD’s Missing Persons Section at 619-531-2277 or SDPD Det. James Hunter at 619-531-2327 or jhunter@pd.sandiego.gov.

Not sure what a “confirmed sighting” is (I read the NBC story also), but until it’s validated by police, I don’t believe it. I think the news story also mentioned a sighting at the airport.

It’s highly unlikely this woman would be hiding out in her neighborhood, yet have no contact with her family. Either she voluntarily left, is being held against her will, suffered a serious injury and cannot get help, or deceased.

A missing person report was filed, so it’s a police matter now.

John, does it dawn on you when making these glib statements that some of these people’s family members may be reading these articles and comments?

Are you related to this woman or just indulging in self righteous indignation?Does it dawn on you they probably have bigger things to worry about besides what people post on blogs on the internet? Do you also think people go out of their way to scour the internet.. to read stories about themselves? “I want to see what the world is writing about me. It better all be good!”
I would surmise if they have been in that Vons they would not disagree.
The fact this woman has been spotted indicates something a little more to tjr story. As mentioned by a commenter at 10news site:

Ken Platt
“If she was spotted then she really isnt missing…. maybe she just wanted to walk away from her life.”

Youd better get over there and police the commentd there too. In fact there is a whole internet full of insensitivity!

John, you are welcome to do whatever you like as far as I am concerned. I just find it distasteful. Second time in a week some young woman has been in a life-threatening situation where you’re coming across that way here. Both of their families appear to be mostly from out-of-town, and yeah, I think it is quite possible that they are reading articles and trying to get whatever information that they can. To the extent that this site is a community forum representative of OB and not some major media outlet, I think we’re better than that.

FWIW, the other young woman was very likely hit by a drunk driver who then fled the scene rather than risk jail time, but nice of you to blame her anyways.

/end rant

Seth why do you assume I might care what you think is distasteful or not?
And the discussion on that other story should be left where it is. Deleted. I wasnt the one who steered it to ad hominem ugliness but here you are trying to do the same childish thing here. What is so hard to grasp about this Seth: post replies that are relevant to the story or issue under discussion. Not about how you feel about other readers. What is your point? You dont like me. Okay I will sleep fine tonight. Your tears for the world are better than mine. Whoopee.
But note however in years of posting here I have NEVER entered a thread and posted solely to attack another reader.
On the day the level of discussion I seek sinks so low I will lose sleep over it.
If you really want the level of discourse elevated you can just ignore my posts.
As for what happened at Sunset Cliffs and WPL that night think of this. One of those parties had a default green light at that hour. That is a fact.
The other was on a vehicle which, absent a heavier vehicle entering at the same time which also eould shield it, could not change it from red to green without a fair amount of inconvenience-riding off the street coming to a stop and pushing a button. Something very few people tend to do-those that would exercise such caution would not be too likely to then ride into the path of a vehicle that is not slowing down for a red light.

If you post stupid shit expect to hear about. Or, you could choose not post at all. Either way, your condescending manner has you a marked man.

Did you come to this thread to againdefend the felony hit and run driver of an accident which left a young woman with sever head injuries?

I’d say this poster “John” has lost his posting privileges in the OBRAG.

The publishers of this blog are intelligent and fair minded enough to have written a comments policy that applies to all. Unlike the parade of people who cannot seem to reply to the topic of discussion insist on name calling and other ad hominems, I have done little if anything close to a violation of that policy.
If you think I ever do feel free to contact the site admin and tell them there is someone on the internet who disagrees with you and you would like them to make them go away.

Singing praises for fleeing felony hit and run drivers may not violate comments policy, but it does violate any measure of decency available and places one in the category of lower life forms such as pond scum or nit.

Lying (singing praises? who did that?) is also mentioned in the comments policy (see false information) as are personal attacks. Duke there is lots of space on the internet for you to start a blog to discuss your feelings about me. I ask again can you refrain from turning these discussions into rants about other readers?

No apology yet for your disgusting defense on these pages of a felony hit & run driver who left a young girl with severe head injuries laying in the street at 1:30 am. I am not the only one here who was offended yet you attempt to single out me. Your thinly veiled attack on the young victim was the most vile post I have seen on these pages. If anyone lies here it is you.

And you have the gall to point to rules as if to take the moral high ground, you the victim blamer! No respect begets no respect pal.
