Launch of Corky 2 Freedom Journey
Organizers want help to display the historic Corky Freedom Banner within view of SeaWorld San Diego, where she is the longest-captive orca, to Launch the Corky 2 Freedom Journey, a renewal of the Corky Freedom bus tour up the West Coast with Corky’s Freedom banner in 1999.
Christine Caruso, a kindergarten teacher from Seattle, has secured the huge banner handcrafted of panels contributed worldwide for the original Corky’s Journey for display along this 2014 Corky 2 Freedom Journey.
The banner will be displayed on the large grassy area between Ingraham Street and Ski Beach Boat Launch, just north of the Entrance to SeaWorld on Vacation Isle, NOT South Shores Boat Launch as originally planned, from 8am to 6pm.
They will lay the roughly 5′ wide strips of handmade cloth panels stitched together side by side with a walking path in between for viewing.
1) With 24 plastic bins holding these strips, they NEED VOLUNTEERS to help lay them out starting at 8a, and another crew to help fold them carefully and return them to the bins starting at 4p.
2) They will also need Volunteers throughout the day to keep an eye on this historic folk art resource, keep it tidy, and answer questions from visitors. GREAT outreach opportunity!

stupid waste of time. get out there and make a difference for the animals in the ocean who are suffering from constant pollution, over fishing, hunting, boat strikes and other human caused issues. Corky is taken care of and is lucky not to have to deal with the crisis in the ocean
Care about the animals in the ocean, but not the ones in tiny tanks? You sound like a SeaWorld employee. By your logic humans in prison should feel lucky for not having to deal with society.
How about the constant noise pollution these huge mammals in tanks must endure during the nightly fireworks SeaWorld insists on having ?? Are you working to stop that Kyle?
I love people feel hey have the right to tell other what causes or what they should do while they themselves sit on their asses. Kyle, just what are you doing about the those issues? I also would would think Corky would much rather take her chances in her natural environment rather than be stuck in that tiny tank, performing unnatural tricks everyday for frozen sardines.
We received this from organizer Martha Sullivan:

Love the passion but Corky will die if she is set free.
Thank You, OB Rag!
As if we can’t care and advocate about BOTH. And seriously, an apex predator needs protection from a nanny corporation? Get real. This is exploitation to the tune of billions of dollars annually, plain and simple.
This isn’t just a SeaWorld protest … it’s also an opportunity to view a great piece of folk art, created by children from around the world and to celebrate their engagement in life!
