Obceans* are urged to attend Thursday’s San Diego Planning Commission meeting and show  support for the OB Community Plan Update. OB planners say “this is the most important document that will guide development in OB for the next 20 plus years.”

The Plan Update is scheduled to go before the Planning Commission on the 29th of May. Planning Commission meetings start at 9 am sharp.

The meeting will be held in the Council Chambers at City Hall, downtown at 202 West “C” Street, 12th Floor. Here’s the agenda: http://www.sandiego.gov/planning-commission/pdf/agenda/2014/pcagenda140529.pdf

Theresa Millette, Senior Planner with the City of San Diego Planning Department is expected to give the presentation of the Update to the Commission and answer their questions. She has been the most consistent city planner working with the OB sub-committee that tracked and helped develop the Update.  The Update itself has been the product of over a dozen years of community workshops and meetings.

The sub-committee – an outgrowth of the OB Planning Board – has been shepherded by two veteran OB planners, Co-Chairs Mindy Pellisier – a long-time Board member and former Chair -, and Gio Ingolia, another long-time Board member.

Theresa Millette will also be giving a presentation on the Community Plan at the next OB Town Council Meeting Wednesday, May 28th 7pm, and will be joined by  Pellissier and Ingolia to assist and answer any questions. The Presentation at the next Town Council Meeting will be very beneficial and informative to the community on changes that have been made since it went public.

Here’s ways to get there:

  • From OB take the 923 bus . The 923 runs every 30 minutes, Monday-Friday. See here for schedule.

[* There has been a running dispute for years over how to exactly spell “OBceans”, whether it’s “OBciens” or “OBecians” or whatever.  The OB Rag ran a poll of our readers’ favorite spelling a while ago, and “OBceans” won. As Patty says, “it’s putting the ‘OB’ in “ocean”.]
