We have an update on the opening date for OB Warehouse, the new spot on Newport Avenue from the Cohn Restaurant Group.
Apparently Tim Spann’s estimate of “a couple weeks” that we reported was a bit optimistic.
“We don’t have a definitive opening date,” said Kelly Brown, a publicist with the Cohn Group. “It’s going to be in the next couple of months.”
That comes after Philippe Beltran, a designer for the restaurant, told me last week it would probably be sometime in April.
It looks like much of the construction on the façade of the building is done – including new siding over the windows on the second floor and a new sign in place of that gaudy Portugalia mural that pockmarked the neighborhood even after the place closed last year.
But it did look like there was plenty still left to do inside when we got a sneak peek last week.
“We’re still mid-construction and we still have some design stuff to do and some infrastructure things after that. So even thought it looks like it’s coming together, we’re still a little ways out,” Brown said.
She said they should have some updates soon, so we’ll keep you posted.

Well if the food and service are anywhere near as awesome as Portugalia was, it’ll be well well worth the wait. Too bad the pricing and apparently the community politics turned so many away from the old restaurant…
Are they Hiring locally? That would be awesome! Have not seen any notices about interviews .
