Last night at their annual Christmas Toy live auction, the Ocean Beach Town Council raised at least $5,000.  That’s an unofficial figure, arrived at last night at the end of the proceedings at the Sunshine Company bar, provided to an inebriated OB Rag staffmember by Steve Grosch.

With such auctioneers as Mike James, New York Mike, Ed Decker and a new guy from James Gang (sorry didn’t catch the name) with assistance provided by Town Council volunteers like Melinda Redding and Gretchen Newsom, and many more like Claudia Jack gave the packed audience a rousing night of fun and fund raising.

John Schultz – the “original OB Santa” – was there bidding on just about everything. (Shultz was Santa in the first OB Christmas/ Holiday Parade” many moons ago.)

The money raised goes to providing food and toys for 70 OB families.

During the Holiday Parade I was told that the OB Town Council raised something closer to $6,000.
