Ocean Beach Town Council to Hold Mayoral Candidate Forum – Tonight, Oct. 23rd

Masonic Lodge OB gomapThe OB Town Council is holding a San Diego mayoral candidate forum tonight at it’s monthly meeting, October 23rd.

The meeting begins at 7pm and is held at the Masonic Center.  The center is located at 1711 Sunset Cliffs Blvd. in OB, 92107.

We have heard from the Council’s  new prez, Gretchen Newsom, that of the major candidates, David Alvarez and Mike Aguirre are confirmed to be attending.

Nathan Fletcher is unavailable and will be sending a representative, as will Kevin Faulconer who is also unavailable.

There will also be a brief presentation by SurfRider about the City’s proposed ban on plastic bags.

Here is the format for tonight’s candidate forum:

Open Questions. 5 minutes for each candidate to give an overview of their candidacy, followed by five minutes of questions from the audience for each candidate.

 Alvarez: 5 minutes for remarks; 5 minutes for questions

Aguirre: 5 minutes for remarks, 5 minutes for questions

Fletcher’s rep: 5 minutes for remarks, 5 minutes for questions

Flauconer’s rep (if he sends one): 5 minutes for remarks, 5 minutes for questions

At the OBTC’s last mayor forum the two main candidates were asked questions from the audience as well as from the Board itself.
