The Ocean Beach/Pt. Loma League of Women Voters is taking off in our area. For years we did not have any local meetings, and finally we have our own group meetings right here at the Point Loma Library, 3701 Voltaire St.

October 7th, (Monday), from 1:00-3:00pm there will be a 2 hour presentation about the FDA and how drugs are approved. Besides the short video, the following questions will be discussed along with questions from the audience:

What is a generic drug and a “me too” drug?; What is an “off-label” use of drugs? Does the FDA monitor manufactures worldwide? Why do we have drug shortages? Should taxpayers fund 100% of the drug approval process? Should the FDA permit more prescriptions drugs be converted to over-the-counter drugs as is done in countries?

This meeting is of great interest, particularly if you take any form of drug via prescription or OTC. There are many people that say they are allergic to generic drugs, yet we are told that a generic drug must have the same properties as the original FDA approved drug.

Don’t miss the meeting for the answers to your questions.

October 7th, 1:00pm; Point Loma Library; 3701 Voltaire St., San Diego, CA 92107
