I don’t mind the fact that my hubby watches porn, partly, I guess, because it’s inversely related to how often we have sex. Just because I’m not in the mood doesn’t mean that he has to remain sexually abstinent. Plus, I watch it, too, when the mood strikes.

What does bother me, however, is the often unrealistic portrayal of sex that pornography perpetuates for men and women. Being a woman, I can only speak for my gender and, while porn can be fun, it definitely has the potential to take its toll on the self esteem. I mean, there are some standards I just can’t live up to.

For example, I don’t suddenly find myself dripping wet at the mere thought of penis. Sorry.

I still like to cuddle. Booooorrring.

I can’t do a triple backflip and land naked in the splits position smiling and ready for action. A personal failing, I’m sure.

I have not invested in a vaginal bleaching kit. Yes, you read that right.

Now, while you don’t have to be a NASA scientist to figure out that there are very real differences between porn sex and real sex, the statistics in this video are pretty interesting and put things into perspective nicely. Just one little warning: You will never look at food the same.

Hhmmm, I wonder if the author believes that movies like Iron Man 3 are real? After all, it’s an unrealistic portrayal of super heros.
