Doug Porter and I just returned from Filner’s inauguration, held in Balboa Park. Very impressive – in his speech, Filner pledged to hold neighborhoods first in his administration. He is now the mayor – first Democrat since Maureen O’Connor – who was more of a centrist Dem then. We saw a lot of people we knew – progressives in San Diego are owning this election – the election of the most liberal mayor in the city’s history.
