We always like to give a Shout Out! to our sponsors and advertisers. It’s folks like those that ensure that the OB Rag keeps running, growing, and developing*.

So, with that – here’s to you – Dr. Jeoff Gordon – for supporting us with a six-month ad on top of our sidebars. Jeoff runs the Ocean Beach Medical Group, located at 1947 Cable Street, along with Scott Barker.  They offer special discounts if you don’t have insurance, and claim that some medicines can actually be provided for free. Here’s what they say on their website:

We try to keep our practice small so that we can give you personal medical care that cannot be provided in a larger clinic setting. We are dedicated to putting in the time and attention needed to help you feel better. We enjoy seeing a wide range of patients from newborn to the elderly. We offer a full range of services that include same day sick visits, well child checks, sports physicals, blood draws, as well as management of chronic conditions. We believe in listening to the patient and their needs and in working together as a team to accomplish your health care goals.

We pride ourselves in having an office that will work as an advocate to make your insurance company responsive to your needs. We are glad to serve any person in need who finds him or herself without health insurance and will show consideration to their circumstances.

Jeoff Gordon helped start the very first free clinic in San Diego in 1971 on Mission Boulevard. And he’s still practicing and is very active in the community and in progressive healthcare issues. See our excellent review of Jeoff by Shane Finneran.  Jeoff is not only a doctor for the village, but he is an activist in his own right, and has occasionally dabbled here on the OB Rag.

(* Part of the OB Rag’s development is our soon-to-be-launched progeny, the San Diego Free Press.)

Dr. Gordon has been my physician for over a decade and I am still here despite my contrary nature. Not only is he a fine physician, he is a true Obecean.

This special program was launched in 2010 and was originally expected to run out of money before it could cover everyone who needed it. But the opposite happened. People with pre-existing conditions either didn’t know about this plan or didn’t care to take part. Less than 20,000 people have signed up across the country. learn at “Penny Health” for your self

Dr. Gordon, is one of the hard to find physicians who has seen it all. No matter what your financial hardship he always goes beyond his responsibility to provide services. We are so lucky to have a community Doctor who has a long history of social activism on behalf of affordable health care for all!

Dr. Gordon’s the best! He has a poster in his office endorsing national healthcare! The ONLY reason he isn’t my Doctor now is he was so darned popular!

Well if I ever need a doc I know who I’ll call, thanks to the glowing reviews and generous sponsorship. Then again I don’t need a doc too often…I just visited the MB clinic a few months ago, my first trip to see a doctor that wasn’t related to having a broken bone set in about 20 years – after doubling the visit price I was quoted on the phone, I was out almost 10% of my month’s take-home pay for a 10 minute conversation about a lung infection, before the unannounced bill for an extra $50 arrived a few weeks later. Learned his lesson about seeking health care, this chronically uninsured kid did…
