A rally to save the OB Library, April 30, 2011.

The Ocean Beach branch library is set to re-open this Saturday, March 10th.  This, after a period where it was remodeled with a new carpet, new paint, and a new roof.

But with just a few days away from the doors being swung open again to OB, our library needs help.

The place needs cleaning and all the books need reshelving.  Before it can open again, there’s a bunch of internal work that needs to happen.

We need volunteers to show up today, Wednesday, or Thursday and Friday.  We need you to join these neighborhood efforts for an hour, or 2 hours, 3 or 4, or …. you get the picture.  Anytime between 9 am & 5 pm would be great.

As someone said, please donate your time to help our local library shine.

George Murphy, the past chair of the Friends of the OB Library, told me that the Library will re-open at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday.  George: “We hope to have lots of balloons, and snacks and coffee, and then a ‘ribbon cutting!’ ”

Representatives of the different local groups who donated money towards the new carpet will be on hand to be recognized.
