Tonight, just back from the General Assembly of Occupy San Diego, we can report that a site has been chosen for the initial location of the occupation, and it is the very Children’s Museum Park that the group has been meeting since they started.

Here’s the general plan for Friday, October 7th:

  • 3:30 ish pm – We’ll form up at Children’s Museum Park, First and Island
  • Roughly 4:00  we’ll march through the Gaslamp up to Civic Center Plaza, 1200 Third Avenue, next to City Hall;
  • Arrive at the Civic Center Plaza roughly 4:30
  • We’ll rally until roughly 5:30 to 6 pm at the Plaza;
  • We’ll then  march back to Children’s Park for the first night of occupation.
  • 7:00 pm Candlelight ceremony
  • General Assembly

Plan for Saturday, October 8th:

  • 4:00pm March to Civic Center Plaza
  • 4:30 pm Begin occupation

Everyone who is part of the 99% is invited to join Occupy San Diego.  All kinds of people are joining us every night at our General Assemblies, which have been held nightly since Tuesday, September 27th. For example, there were at least 40 new people at tonight’s Orientation for newbies.

Interview with SDPD Asst. Chief here.

Looks encouraging.

Also, it is being said that some time tomorrow Mike Aguirre is doing some sort of teach-in at OccupySD. ??

Sounds like the police are realizing that they’re part of the 99% as well. There is nothing better than a good revolution, and it is time we step up. I am so tired of living paycheck to paycheck, and ending up with $50 to last me 2 weeks until the next check. It is time. Stand up, be heard, and kick some moral ass!

I felt like such a dork, showing up to the Concourse last night and it was empty! Silly me, thought we San Diegans had gotten lazy and gone home :)

To decide what these occupying forces represent, start by asking yourself the following
“What are the three (yes, only three) most important objectives that the U.S. (even w/o Congress) must do to reinstall the American Dream and to restore the U.S. as the world’s sole superpower?
Note: Even after using the term ‘superpower’ I’ll bet that ‘winning’ the ‘war’ in Afghanistan is not in your top ten…..but here:

How about these three:

1)Education:
a)forgive all student loans as a means to stimulate the economy and to unburden those who have or are in the process of obtaining a degree. Take this money away from the government and the banks and put it (stimulatively) into the economy!
b)rehire 50% of all laid off teachers (some may merit it but no more than 50% I’m ‘sure’ and have their newly re-found salaries (stimulatively) into the economy!

2)Stop All Home Foreclosures:
Only owner occupied homes i.e. no speculators or landlords allowed…..details to come (ex. grant all underwater homeowners a 30yr fixed mortgage at the current 4%, guarantee it by the government, but require 10% of a homeowner’s profit when sold after the market stabilizes as a result of this program). This equates to a a massive stimulus by taking (idle) money from banks, putting it into people’s hands, and then (stimulatively and) directly into the economy!….BUT being in a catch-22 between unemployment and foreclosures these foreclosures must ‘first’ be stopped and then we can move on to the massive problem of….

3)Unemployment:
a)Adopt the Obama jobs bill now or…(Republicans pls no’ jobs creators’ diatribe)…create demand for goods/services….taxes and uncertainty do not restrain hiring…..lack of demand does…lack of consumer discretionary funds does….simply.
b)Eliminate the representative in ‘representative democracy’ through popular voting (a bill at a time beginning life a a super polling/tie breaking/debt ceiling fiasco ending mechanism) via computers, telephones, etc.; a PIN; and your SS number.
Employ continuous security/hacking resistance by using testing by Anonymous.
If the majority (silent or not) are truly in charge you can bet that they will have jobs and it will be the lobbyists out of work….all 700,000+ of them.
