After a large peace march down from Balboa Park ended with a rally at the Civic Center Plaza, the occupation of the Plaza continued. Nearly one thousand occupiers and supporters had gathered for the rally at its peak.
Even though police had ordered all sleeping bags to be removed from the Plaza and had banned “illegal lodging” in it as well, about one hundred demonstrators slept in the Plaza last night, Saturday night.
Here is the schedule for Sunday, October 16, 2011, at Occupy San Diego:
11:00 a.m. – Teach-in at Plaza on “structural inequality”
4:00 p.m. – Daily March around the Gaslamp
7:00 p.m. – General Assembly

To many, it’s hard to understand why we Occupy San Diego, but that’s OK – understanding is what we strive for. Our local, American and global societies have become consumed with greed, selfishness and a general lack of concern for the human right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. We have lost our right to privacy, and we are slowly abandoning our right to free speech. In light of this unethical pandemic, we have come together with an understanding that the way we live now is unsustainable and a desire to fix the corrupt system in which we’ve all been forced to live.

ENCINITAS: Crowd turns out to “occupy” Encinitas
A reported crowd of approximately 350 gathered at the four corners of Encinitas Blvd and Coast Highway. A semi-tractor truck drove by twice honking its large horn in support. A Sheriff stopped the truck and issued the driver a citation. Several dozen demonstrators rushed up to the spot where the truck had been pulled over. People are reported to have claimed the Sheriff had called them “socialists” and had tried to get a woman demonstrator to step off the curb so he could arrest her.

Meanwhile…the 1% continue to play the game of Monopoly. In recent news Kinder Morgan wants to buy El Paso Pipeline. Once approved, Kinder Morgan said it will also become the largest independent transporter of gasoline, diesel and other petroleum products. It will also be the largest independent owner and operator of petroleum storage terminals. It will be the largest transporter of carbon dioxide in the U.S., moving about 1.3 billion cubic feet per day.
